Description

Trip information:

Everest High Passes Trek offers an extraordinary opportunity to observe the gigantic Himalayan ranges over 8000m including the highest Mt. Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Makalu, and the Ngozumpa Glacier– the largest glacier in the Himalayas. We will also see the sights of Gokyo valley which has a collection of stoned houses and pastures on the shore of a great lake, Dudh Pokhari. Most importantly, we will cross the three high passes in the Everest Region.

On the second day after your arrival, we will visit and examine the ancient historical and religious sites situated at the three cities of Kathmandu Valley; Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Lalitpur. We will then see the authentic Newari culture, the palaces of Royal Kings living in the valley during the medieval era.

To start our trekking from Lukla Airport, we will walk down to the Dudh Koshi River. From here we will stick with the major track to Namche Bazaar, a flourishing village situated in a huge isolated bowl-shaped region; it will be a spectacular experience. Then the remarkable sight of the Khumbu mountains like Ama Dablam ( 6856m), Thamserku (6608m) as well as extensive vistas of Everest will spellbind you. We will walk on the messy, risky moraines of Ngozumpa Glacier which is the main glacier in Nepal. We will be delighted by the diverse scenery of the Gokyo Valley including the series of beautiful Gokyo Lake. We will get to witness the first lake Longpongo situated at the height of 4690m. Finally, the second lake, Taboche Tsho totally fascinates us with its shiny turquoise blue water alluring in the sun. We will notice that the Gokyo village set by the third lake and Cho-Oyu peak as a backdrop presents a wonderful sight here.

This trek gives the best opportunity to trek along the three beautiful passes situated at high altitude in the Everest Region namely Kongma La Pass, Cho La Pass and Renjo La Pass. The beautiful view from the passes will almost knock everyone off their knees. However, it is fairly challenging. There aren’t many types of equipment here and it is located in the remote area of the Everest Region. This part of the trek is, therefore, one of the adventuresome yet beautiful encounters the trekkers will have.
